Happy Hump-day everyone! I thought I would just update you all on my journey that is starting Crossfit.
I mentioned in my last post that I had started a new “challenge” I guess you could call it. Well it is a part of a Crossfit
gym box and it’s located about 1.5 miles from my house. It lasts for 6 weeks and then after that they talk with you about where you want to go from there. Whether that is another challenge or becoming an actual member at the gym.
The first day they took our measurements which included tricep, waist, hip and quadracep. We also completed a couple of different tests. For one minute, we did as many sit ups, push ups, squats and burpees as we could. After that we did a fit test that went like this: 250m run, 250m row, 40 squats, 30 sit ups, 20 push ups and 10 burpees as fast as possible.
I shot like a bat out of hell with the run, row and squats but then started to deplete after that. Since I had already pushed super hard to do as many of these exercises I could do…my body wasn’t having it. I still pushed as hard as I could but ended up being the last person to finish. At the end of the 6 weeks, we will do everything again (including measurements) to see how much we have progressed. I also made a vow to NOT step on the scale for the whole 6 weeks. I have actually stuck to it even though I desperately want to check to see how I am progressing!
Throughout the course we have been introduced to a couple of different exercises that are in WOD’s (workout of the day). I am at the middle part of the second week and we have worked on ball squats, jump rope, jump pull ups, sit ups, push ups, rowing, running and box squats. I am really looking forward to getting stronger and learning all of the different things associated with Crossfit. I knew that I would love it before I even started so it’s nice to really look forward to working out again and leaving feeling super accomplished!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a great week!
